Chelsey's Rainbow Baby Journey

Updated: 5 days ago

I am very excited to begin my project. Something I have been wanting to do for a long time and I am finally in a place where I can do it. My project consists of seven women expecting their rainbow babies. Each lady will have a color that is part of the rainbow. I will be doing a maternity and a newborn session for each lady. When they have their babies, I will also be coordinating their assigned colors into their newborn session. Chelsey is the first to start my Rainbow Baby Project.

Purple is the color I chose for her.

This is her story...

"We had been trying for our second baby and we were so excited to find out in June 2021 we were expecting. When I was about 7 weeks along I noticed some spotting, so went into the ER. I tried not to worry as I had a subchorionic hemorrhage with my first, and now she is a healthy 2 year old. I was praying it was the same thing. When I got my ultrasound done they found a gestational sac and no heartbeat. They told me it could just be early and so I had to wait it out for a couple of weeks and repeat the ultrasound. It was terrible being told there isn't much to do, but wait and see. However, I didn't have to wait long and I unfortunately started to experience very heavy bleeding a few days later. I knew it was different than a subchorionic hemorrhage. I went and got bloodwork done and my doctor told me I was in fact miscarrying. I felt numb at the news, never having experienced something like that before. You feel very alone going through a miscarriage, even though you know many women experience the same thing. After going through that, you constantly worry, will it happen again? When we hit the 7 week mark with this little one I felt so much anxiety. But, we are very blessed to have had a healthy pregnancy this time around, and we can't wait to meet our little one in May 😊"

Chelsey had a healthy beautiful baby boy named William on May 17th.

During his session I was going to have Chelsey help me with a pose called the Froggy. Little guy was naked on my table and as I was trying to position him, he peed all over my face and hair. We couldn't stop laughing. His pee even hit my space heater and sizzed. I learned a lesson from that one! It's very normal for a baby to pee on my lap, but I have never had a baby aim for my face. I won't forget that moment haha.
